Acacia Chapter decided not to hold a Craft & Vendor Fair in 2020 (this decision was made prior to COVID-19). We will be looking at other fund raising opportunities.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train came to St. Louis Park on Saturday, December 10th, 2016, to support the local food shelf, STEP. Acacia Chapter was excited to be a part of this community activity by selling popcorn at the event, which was held in the neighborhood near the chapter. In spite of the cold and snow, our chapter members braved the weather and sold 140 bags of popcorn to the crowd. It was great teamwork as we needed a generator, popcorn machines, a food license, a canopy, and members to make and sell popcorn. The fourteen-car train, fully decorated in holiday lights, parked for about an hour and entertained the crowd with holiday music performed on a stage pulled out from one of the cars. We estimated about 1,500 people gathered for the event and brought food items for STEP. A great time was had by everyone; hand warmers sold by a local business were very popular.

The Holiday Train came to St. Louis Park again in 2017,  2018 and 2019!!! Acacia sold popcorn and hot chocolate. Both were very popular!  Templar Lodge assisted in 2019.

Acacia was planning to volunteer at this summer festival in St. Louis Park but it was cancelled due to COVID-19. We plan to try again in 2021.

All chapters in Minnesota had the ability to offer refreshments at State Rest Areas. This is a service to the traveling public and good visibility for our order. Acacia Chapter has done this several times at the Elm Creek Rest Area in Maple Grove by offering snacks or cookies, coffee, iced tea and lemonade or hot chocolate (the last time was April 20, 2019 after Grand Chapter decided to no longer promote this project). We could not charge for the refreshment but could have a donation jar.
